the free state of tranquilo
Here’s a story of achieving the Zen-like ‘State of Tranquilo.’
Y’all knows I used to hate water, baths in particular. Scared to death to get into pool too, just like Dad was scared to death to get on that roller coaster. But come bath time, Dad would grab me scruff of my neck just like my mom did when I was a puppy. So I felt safe. Realized their ‘terrorism’ was in my best interest.
When I got outta bath, smelled good, blow dry my coat, beautyshop. Same process was used when I learned to swim. Panic-city at first turned into refreshing oasis on a summer day. Now I get it.
Once I got comfortable with the concept of a bath, a shower. a swim, realized those experiences enabled the freedom to ‘leave this world for a while.’
Water is a means of cleansing, calming. And Dad says “una ducha para la mente, y el alma.” A cleansing of your mind and soul.
Calm, relaxed, everything get libre. That’s what Latinos call “Tranquilo.” it’s a Zen-like state.
South American Getaway exposed me to ‘The Free State of Tranquilo.’
Enlightened, calm, cleansed got me free.
an e-special-ly delicious day
Isn’t it fun to get a surprise birthday party? It was a landmark, the big one-zero, ten. Landed my dream job too. All on the same day!!! That’s special.
Best job is when you are a perfect fit for the requirements and continuously demonstrated you’re ready. Might need a little transformation, but strech definitely ‘in range’ not ‘a bridge too far,’ and have a good support system to aid integration. And no age discrimation please. I might be ten, but I’m stately, carry myself well. Don’t feel much different now from when I was a puppy. Not afraid to express my feelings, my specialty is conversation-starting, AN ENERGY MAKER, this ‘spirit animal’ can turn a frown upside down in a magician’s minute.
Do it every day for everybody. In turn, they make me feel special. Friendliness is the common denominator to social savvy, Extending social network is what it’s all about.
I expect to be treated special on my birthday but what about the other 364? That’s what the girl doing the coronation does. Lily made me always feel special, she gives the gift of ‘special’ to ALL of her clients. Bend over backwards, above and beyond comes natural to her. She helped us navigate through the potholes, roadblocks, gave us the straight ‘inside scoop’ in a place where the truth could be tough to find.
As I was making my procession, Dad gave me his gift. “Twinkles, nobody deserves the honor of Princesa more than you. BRING THE JOY of every day special for everybody. Your birthday gift is …
Annointed LA PRINCESA, be UNLEASHED.
I LOVE THIS SONG, e-special-ly the ‘Twinkle in her eye’ part!
Bring the special
Bring the joy
dilemma of looking forward vs backward
Twinkle, what’s better looking foreward or looking backward? Yes.
Cattle Drive monument, Dallas, TX. ach drive was comprised of 3,000 head, 12 miles/per day. Big risk, those cows only asset on balance sheet. “This situation here in Midwest is getting bleak. We have to look forward. Get to a more abundant place. Cowboy looks backward “Why did I do this?” Twinkles in contrast looks forward, “We gotta do this, you can do it big fella.”
Most finance folks ‘bound to the backward.’ Best advice ever got, “I need a CFO that looks more forward than backward.”
Twinkle what do you think? Looking backward is was a great day at the park and I look forward to going again tomorrow.
Which was more important?
BOTH.
wE JUST KEPT THINKING BIG
Dad, did you ever take a new job in a new town? Many times. It was tough leaving the comfort of ‘the known,’ was doing OK. But the known got boring, felt stifled, caged, I wasn’t growing. So I made a change started from scratch. Discomfort, nervy moments, questioned the decision basically. But I did homework in advance, knew it was the right decision. It took a while grew, got better the change was well worth it.
I’ve been on a lot of flights but never one this long. Had to take a second plane, man that Miami airport is a disaster. It’s been a really long day. Seems like there were some extra steps and we got a ‘lot more bags. Dad, what is the we had a pretty good life in Dallas, now Colombia is our new home? Heard it’s dangerous.
Why are we doing this?
“You just stereotyped Twink. We gonna get stereotyped and have none of that. In our new home there will be uncomfortable, adversity like you’ve never seen. The extreme. Good days, great and … Dad let me guess the bad really really bad. Correct. We BOTH have to figure it out. Apoyo y Ayude Siempre.” What? It’s Help and Support Forever.’ and TRUST each other. That’s how we get through tough at times. Good news if we do this right, we’ll ‘Never Go Home Again?’ You'll have a new, enlightened perspective on everything. Think different, think better.
Get UNLEASHED.
Sounds good to me.
bingham’s light backpack
Here’s a story of rewarding agility, proving you belong, making your own luck.
Morning of the Machu Picchu trip, the hotel phone rings. Mr. Padre we’ve had to change your return train tonight. You’ve got an involuntary upgrade to the Hiram Bingham train. After an unbelievable day, (where we deftly dodged a few bullets) board the train. I hadn’t been a lot of trains, but this looks pretty sweet.
What’s for dinner? Duck? I love to chase them now I get to eat them. I am a Princesa, and I BELONG.
Hiram Bingham is the Peruvian ‘Orient Express.’ Theorectically I wasn’t supposed to get into Sacred City. Theorectically we were supposed to be on Peru Rail returning from Machu Picchu.
’We have become ‘masters of crafty.’ Now some perceive our crafty a ‘dark art.’ Kinda, but we analyze a situation, identify the opportunities, and quickly develop a creative, well thought out plan and execute it.”
If that’s crafty, guile, make your own luck well sign me up for that.
We defined agile today Dad.
“Yup, helps if you have a light backpack.”
“How ironic we’re on the Hiram Bingham, quoting Ryan Bingham from ‘Up in the Air?’”
